...And now the crux...

- A musician who uses sampling lifts entire sections of music from a source and rarely creates anything original.(Jive Bunny do this badly, Transglobal Underground do it well, Pop Will Eat Itself do it better;)
- Sequencing = auto-accompaniment
- Using sequencers, sampling, and programming synthesizers involves no technical skill, training, or talent and as such is less worthwhile than any technically half competant acoustic musician.
- All the above are far removed from acoustic music and musicianship. There is a rigid division between the two.
- Drum Loops (or any loops for that matter) are just used because we are too lazy/untalented/poor to get a real musician to do it.
- Using 'real' musicians is ALWAYS better than using electronics.
- Samplers, Synths, Drum Machines etc. are not 'real' instruments or valid creative tools.
- We are associated with a specific genre of music that:
- The synthesizer enables a 40 IQ 'Person' to produce, at the touch of a button, a Symphony in Eb minor that could well end up at No. 1 in the Classical charts, on Mars
- Computers/Synths/Samplers are digital, clinical, devoid of emotion in themselves, and therefore are a totally inneffective medium for the expression of emotions. Thus, all music made using this technology is without feel, feeling, emotion, success, honesty, or communication.
- Repetition and Minimalism = lack of ideas and is necessarily boring, unimaginative, inherrently worthless. Or Phillip Glass/Steve Reich/Michael Nyman when it is backed by fame, a music degree, 'real' musicians, and a multi-national record label.
- Repetition in one of the following (melody, rhythm, timbre) = Repetition in everthing else.
- All electronically based music is repetitive, and so all the above statements are true for it.
- Repetition in a piece of music means that it must be aimed at clubbers, druggies, lefties, hippies, layabouts, criminals, and raving punk rollers with their fancy banjos. Or people without the IQ to understand/appreciate really good music.
- Modern musicians = clubbers = druggies = lefties = hippies = layabouts = mentally ill = low life of society = criminals = people not to be accepted, listened to, taken seriously, except as a threat to that sociological perfection that is 'family life'. (sorry about this mindless token tantrum - off the point, but I enjoyed it.)
- We should pay the guitarist on our latest track 90% of the profits as clearly that 'IS' the track, basically. And because he/she is moderately famous, and we are not, the only worth in that track must come purely from him/her. (cf Dr A.Patterson vs. Rickie Lee Jones (little fluffy spoilt rich American jazz/rock singers who think too much of themselves and want to cash in on any success of others because they're money grabbing, insecure, and think far too much of themselves (or maybe it was her label/lawyers) Sorry Rickie... Pirates was a good album though. Thank Donald F.
