Henery Miller

"Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. That is why we get a heartache when we read those lines written by the hand of a master and recognize them as our own, as the tender shoots which we stifled because we lacked the faith to believe in our own powers, our own criterion of truth and beauty. Every man, when he gets quiet, when he becomes desperately honest with himself, is capable of uttering profound truths. We all derive from the same source. here is no mystery about the origin of things. We are all part of creation, all kings, all poets, all musicians; we have only to open up, only to discover what is already there.
What happened to me in writing about joey and Tony was tantamount to revelation. It was revealed to me that I could say what I wanted to say - if I thought of nothing else, if I concentrated upon that exclusively - and if 1 were willing to bear the consequences which a pure act always involves."
Henry Miller 1969

Miller has always been an inspiration to me and in this passage more than anyware. Slated as a pornographer and over looked as writer of poetic integrity. What I've idmirred in him is a clear passionate voice, even when he gets it wrong [and who of us havn't got it wrong some time?]. Miller and Worhol both seem to have this atuditude that all of us are worth at least 10 minutes, capable of great things. This cd then is an offering, a gob spit in the eye because we are all singing, no matter how out of tune we are all singing just for you..
