Images and ideas

Pete Gomes' recent work has strong links to 1960's Cybernetic Cinema and other film makers and intermedia artists exploring mandalic film and forms of visual music. He is influenced by the works of Carl Jung, leading him to formulate ideas based on the notion of a 'psychic interface' and 'psychic interactivity'.

This psychic interface flows "between" the user and the machine Ð beyond buttons, controls, machines, navigational logic and hand-eye co-ordination and even content. It is experiential and communicates with the unconscious of the user; this is the interface of the gamer and the immersed user of the future.

Music

Composer Marvin Ayres creates a piece of music for Sensory specifically using Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound as part of the composition.

The music was composed and played using electric Cello and Violin. Sensory uses surround sound making the spatial quality of the music integrally align with the spatial composition. Individual string sounds sweep around the speakers and subtle sound movement makes it an enveloping experience that requires repeated listening.

Earlier work includes the electro-acoustic suite of compositions Cellosphere. released through the label Ritornell /Mille Plateaux and the publishing company Freibank
