OR
THE ANALOGY OF THE CHILD IN SCIENCE FICTION
I am moving over there,
I think, to sit where I can feel the fire. You are already seated
at the table. I open my mouth to say something. The room is empty
apart from us and the flickering fire. I am saying this inside my
head. Numbers appear at the window but we do not recognise them. I
turn out the light and the night is unveiled outside. I take out my
candle and light it and put it in the window. We are so young. And
over there your arm becomes a hill, your hand turns into a valley
and a train can be seen between the trees.
