Artist Kathy Markley, a Delaware native, lives and works in
Louisiana. Her imagery is allegorical, metaphorical and interpretive aquatic
environments, such as a pond, river, swamp or bog. By depicting these and
other wetland elements (pods, lilies, seeds, roots and other plants), she
conveys her message that "Every object carries an inner spirit or energy.
I am intrigued not so much by what is visible to the eye but by that force
which is beneath the surface. It is my intention to help the viewer to become
more aware of our earth's beauty and need for preservation and protection."
