When art is pants   Richard Cook

Your chance to own a verg limited edition

The suggestion that some of our leading art auction houses may be colluding to keep prices higher threatens art collecting. Fortunately, there is an alternative: it is sold posslible to pick up a work of art for bargain-basement prices. The answer is Hayvend. Hayvend looks like a yellow vending machine. That's because it is a yellow vending machine. You insert as little as a quid and it dispenses a work of art. There are no agents, no midddlemen and no buyer's premium. The vending machines are the brainchild of telephone engineer-turned-artist John Hayward, but there's one small snag. You never know what you are going to get. I was less than thrilled about the pair of yellow H-front underpants. But then sometimes you've just got to let art flow into your fife.
