"While I was sleeping"
This book is a "moment" remembered, a "moment" that has been brought up to the surface, a moment lived again in order to put it to rest. The process of [this] work is one of stirring up remembrances, touching just for an instance, childhood memories, comforting moments, lost moments and accepting others of fear, pain and guilt. As a child, one always has a dream, a hero, which often disappear or get pushed aside, but they never cease to exist. All these things are never lost, but remain as traces in ones shadow. Without exorcising these emotions, they can remain trapped, festering. As the word states (e)motions need to move , out of the body. My work enables me to capture a moment, and in a series of works, large blackboard paintings; lanterns, this has been my point of reference. By laying one self bare, by stripping away all the guises, all the masks, the ego, one has nothing for anyone to fight for. That is the moment one has real strength.
