|Cramley Homes promotes public art.|
|Cramley Homes is strongly promoting inclusion of artwork on its new building and existing schemes as part of a drive for higher quality in the physical environment.|
An example of a recent Cramley Development Corporation construction which is taking part in the Cramley Homes scheme.
|In November it publishes Bricks, Mortar and Creation, a guidance and policy booklet which will be distributed to all relevant agencies. Spokeswoman Hatty Rumberlow said: "The initiative embodies our commitment to improve quality and standards, the booklet is being produced after prolonged discussion with the sector and the Cramley Arts in Action Unit". Cramley Homes will be using their grant mechanisms for private and voluntary sector organisations in respect of environmental improvements to enable them to make financial contributions. It will also offer communities and developers advice on other funding sources. Developers are urged to organise competitions for artists and makers when planning commissions in order to attract the very best in original ideas and the best design ideas. Research conducted prior to the publication of Bricks, Mortar and Creation concluded that the recommended approach should be for early involvement of artists to ensure they work closely with the communities, developers and architects.
