SKIN PEELING

Those in the know call it dermabrasion. It is a simple technique which involves the removal of the top layer of skin with a wire disc or steel wool. Skin peeling, as it is commonly known, can erase those irritating lines around the mouth and forehead. Chemical peeling--removing the skin surface with chemicals--does likewise. Both can be effective but painful for several days...but remember, no pain, no gain.

For truly hideous wrinkles, nothing works like a face lift. Loose skin is tucked and stitched in front of the ears. Lines under the cheeks, jaw and neck benefit most, but fine lines around the the mouth and forehead remain. Surgery can deal with furrowed brows, but may leave a mask-like look. Eyelid surgery may be done during a facelift or separately. Tucks are made in the skin under the lower lids and in the crease on the upper lids.

An operation can take several hours, a stay or two to three days in hospital and bruising for several weeks. Thus, hire someone to do your errands and if you must see people, tell them you were involved in an automobile accident. After the month or two it takes you to heal, you will look better than new.
