Subject: [aaa-list] phun @ Access All Areas III
I hope everyone had a worthwhile time at AAA3
Personally, I thought that the speakers I heard were were good to
excellent - much better value for money than any corporate IT security
event !
Ross Anderson - should be Minister for Technology - which bank does he
trust to keep his money in ?
Nick Lockett: It might be a good idea to publish a PGP key to enable
people to contact you in confidence. Where is Snaresbrook Crown Court ?
Richard Cox - has forgotten more than I ever knew about UK telecomms
Lorenzo Valeri - Interesting to note that hackers are not considered a
major threat by NATO generals. I didn't get the chance to ask him about
organised cults with access to these techniques e.g. Aum Shinrikyo,
Scientologists, Heaven's Gate etc.
Michael "blame the sub-editors" McCormac - he is one of the better
informed and sympathetic journalists, so you can now judge what the rest
are like.
Alan Solomon - thanks for the tipworld tip !
Harl - thanks for reminding everyone that Hacking Is Not Just About Unix
Dan O'Brien (TM) & Dave Green (copyright 1997) - great show - look out
for the book/radio/tv/newspaper/magazine series - rememeber to send them
all shareware royalties as ecu digital cash micropayments.
I do hope people got to hear what Rop from Netherlands and Andy from
Germany had to say regarding the fact that like it or not we are part of
a minority community with political aims. Even if we agree with Alec
Muffet about politics and politicians, and have to admit that Michael
McCormac is the best we are likely to get as an "expert" UK journalist,
we have more of a right to be heard about issues which will affect
everyone in this country well into the 21st century regarding computers
and telecomms than say Swampy and his eco activist friends.
As a note for those busy writing up their reports for MI5, please,
please, please get some of the people who were at AAA3 to vet the
forthcoming MI5 website, before it goes public (this month ?) - We can
stand losing the Ashes to the Australians or not winning Wimbledon, but
if some Americans or Chinese or others hack or deny service to the MI5
website then it will be an avoidable national disgrace.
Thanks again to Simon for organising the event
