A private company is working round the clock to uncover the secrets of human DNA in order to patent and so legally 'own' them! Anyone trying to develop new medicines based on this human DNA patent would have to pay dearly for it.


Some recent glowing achievements of the WTO

- Forced Guatemala to stop warning mothers of the dangers to their babies of feeding them breast milk substitute.

- Stopped countries banning imports of fish caught in nets that kill vast numbers of dolphins, turtles and other marine life.

- Overruled the US state of Massachusetts’s boycott of companies dealing with Burma’s highly oppressive regime.

- Declared the European ban on US hormone-contaminated beef 'illegal'.

- Ruled in favour of huge US corporations over small Caribbean banana farmers. These Corporations douse their crops (and their workers) with a lethal chemical cocktail and threaten anyone who tries to join a union. Interestingly the US government demanded the ruling the day after it received a $500,000 contribution from the multinational Chiquita.


Still think Free Trade is harmless?

This is just some of what the WTO has committed in the name of free trade. While this goes on, it hides behind a veil of slick PR, designed to stop us questioning the consequence of its actions.
